We are currently seeking a compassionate and dedicated Trainee SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team in a specialist SEN school in Cardiff, supporting students with Autism.
Job Description: As a Trainee SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the education and development of children aged 3-11 with Autism. Working under the guidance of experienced educators, you will assist in creating an inclusive and engaging learning environment tailored to the unique needs of each student.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support students with Autism in their learning and social interactions.
- Assist the lead teacher in implementing individualised education plans (IEPs).
- Foster a positive and encouraging environment to help students feel secure and valued.
- Help with classroom management and maintain a safe and structured learning space.
- Engage with students through various activities, promoting communication and social skills.
- Collaborate with other staff members to identify and address the needs of students.
- Attend training sessions and staff meetings to enhance your skills and knowledge in special education.
Person Specification:
- A passion for working with children, particularly those with Special Educational Needs.
- Patience, empathy, and excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team and follow guidance from experienced staff.
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet the diverse needs of students.
- Previous experience working with children or in an educational setting is an advantage but not essential.
