Temporary Part-Time Teaching Assistant Vacancy in Christchurch!

Are you passionate about supporting young learners with special educational needs?

We have an exciting opportunity for a Temporary Part-Time Teaching Assistant to join a wonderful educational setting in Christchurch.

This role will start on 22nd April 2025, offering the chance to make a positive impact on the lives of children aged 5 to 12 with MLD (Moderate Learning Difficulties) and ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder).

The Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will provide essential support to students with MLD and ASD, assisting them in the classroom as they engage in learning activities. Your role will be to help students overcome challenges and encourage their participation in all aspects of their education. You will work closely with the teaching staff to ensure that individual learning needs are met, and students feel supported throughout their day.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting the teacher in delivering lessons and activities tailored to individual student needs.
  • Supporting students with MLD and ASD, helping them develop essential skills and build confidence.
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and emotional development in a supportive classroom setting.
  • Providing one-on-one and group support during activities to enhance student engagement.

 

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience working with children, particularly those with MLD and ASD.
  • A patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach to working with young learners.
  • Strong communication skills and a passion for making a positive difference.

 

School Hours

This is a part-time position, Monday to Friday, with working hours from 8.45am to 3.30pm.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
