The Role:
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with students with diverse needs such as Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia, and Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD). You’ll support their learning, development, and emotional well-being, ensuring they have the best possible educational experience. This role is highly rewarding for individuals who want to make a positive impact in young people’s lives.

Responsibilities include:

  • Providing 1:1 or small group support to students with SEN
  • Supporting students with their academic work and adapting materials to suit individual learning needs
  • Promoting a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
  • Collaborating with teachers and SENCOs (Special Educational Needs Coordinators) to implement tailored learning strategies
  • Helping to manage challenging behaviour and promote emotional resilience

About You:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN in any capacity
  • A genuine passion for helping students with additional needs achieve their full potential
  • Patience, empathy, and excellent communication skills
  • A flexible and proactive approach to work
  • Teaching Assistant qualifications (desirable but not essential)
  • Experience working in a secondary school setting is a plus but not required
  • Enhanced DBS check and on the update service (or willingness to apply for one)
