Support Children with PMLD – Teaching Assistant Roles in Halifax
Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant looking to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD)? If so, we have an exciting opportunity in specialist provisions across Halifax.
This role is perfect for someone with a compassionate nature and a proactive attitude. You will be working closely with students who have significant learning and physical needs, helping them engage with education in a way that suits their abilities. Your role will involve providing tailored assistance, fostering independence, and helping create a positive learning experience.
You’ll be assisting with communication support, sensory-based learning techniques, and essential care tasks where needed. A collaborative approach is key, as you will work alongside teachers, therapists, and families to ensure every child receives the support they require.
To succeed in this role, previous experience working with PMLD or similar SEN needs is highly desirable. Strong teamwork, patience, and adaptability will be essential, as well as a willingness to assist with personal care where necessary. Training such as Moving and Handling, Makaton, or Team Teach would be advantageous, though not essential, as development opportunities are available.
We understand that flexibility is important, and this role allows you to work around your availability while maintaining a minimum commitment of three days per week. Whether you want to gain experience in multiple settings or prefer a longer-term position in one school, we can find the right placement for you.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
