Teaching Assistant (SEN Specialist) – Selby/York
Start Date: January
We are working with a large mainstream primary school in Selby (or one of our many partnered schools in Selby or York) that urgently requires a Teaching Assistant with a specialism in working with children who have an SEN (Special Educational Needs) diagnosis.
Your role will centre around a pupil with high emotional needs. Your input, support, and nurturing approach will help the pupil not only get through the day successfully in a classroom setting but also thrive and achieve, while having a positive experience during their time in education. Although the pupil is deemed low-risk, they require emotional reassurance to feel settled in the classroom and remain in the best learning environment. This will be a highly rewarding opportunity to make a significant difference to a child’s development.
The Role
You will work from 8.30am to 3.30pm, Monday to Friday, term-time only, in line with the school’s operating hours.
This is a long-term role in a well-regarded primary school. As a specialist Teaching Assistant, you will work primarily with a pupil who requires additional support but will also be expected to assist other pupils across the classroom as needed. Your role will involve managing behaviour, ensuring pupils meet the desired outcomes of the day, and supporting students in achieving their curriculum standards.
The school requires someone with experience providing this kind of support and you must be available to work 5 days a week. If flexible working is required, please get in touch and we can discuss available options.

Requirements
- Relevant qualification
- Previous experience working with children
- Willingness to apply for a Child Workforce DBS
- SEN experience
- UK resident

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
