Job description

We are currently seeking a Teaching Assistant to join our committed and friendly team. This is a rewarding opportunity to work closely with pupils both in and out of the classroom, supporting their academic, emotional, and social development.

The school is a specialist residential and day school for boys aged 5–13 with social, emotional, and mental health difficulties (SEMH). Set in beautiful grounds in Templecombe, Somerset, they are proud of their nurturing environment, small class sizes, and holistic approach to education and care.

What you’ll do:

  • Support the class teacher in delivering engaging and differentiated lessons

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with a variety of needs

  • Help manage behaviour positively and consistently in line with the school’s therapeutic approach

  • Foster a safe, supportive, and stimulating environment for learning

  • Assist with administrative tasks and classroom preparation

What we’re looking for:

  • Experience working with children, ideally with SEMH or additional needs

  • A calm, patient, and nurturing approach

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • A willingness to learn and develop professionally

  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children

  • Full time availability (08:30 - 16:30, Monday - Friday, term time only)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
