Teaching Assistant 

Location – Weston-Super-Mare (BS24) 

Full time or Part time positions available 

Daily Rate - £89 - £110 

 

Are you passionate about supporting children? Then we have the opportunity for you, we are on the lookout for teaching assistants to support students in a SecondaryPupil Referral Unit (PRU) in the BS24 area. This if for students on short term behavioural stays with the aim to reintegrate them into mainstream education. You will be dealing with students who may be experiencing emotional or behavioural difficulties, including mental health issuesand school phobia/refusal. So behavioural management is a key skill you are required to have. 

 

Position Details:  

  • Hours – 8:30 – 3:00(ideal for parents with school drop-offs and pick-ups!) 

  • Immediate start and continues until the end of the academic year  

  • On site parking and other accessible routes   

  • Part time or full-time position available with us!  

 

What You’ll do:  

  • Support the classroom teacher in delivering the school’s curriculum, working either in small groups or one-to-one.  

  • Work in classrooms of 8-10 students with other teaching assistants to support the learning and development of the children.  

  • Build trusting and safe relationships. This sometimes is an element these students are missing outside of school and is an essential component to boost their academic potential and self-confidence. 

  • Effectively de-escalate challenging and potential challenging situations. Be proactive and calm in testing moments. 

 

Who are we looking for?  

  • Experience with challenge behaviour and possess the ability to manage behaviour effectivelyas this role can be challenging. This experience can be from working with children/ young people/ adults. 

  • Experience working with young people/ adults with SEMH or SEN needs very desirable  

  • A passionate individual eager to work with children withemotional difficulties and in some cases additional needs such as ADHD, Autism etc. 

  • Strong communication skills, highly resilient and reliable as these students need someone who's going to be there for them when they need someone the most

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
