Job description

Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting students with special educational needs (SEN)? Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to work with SEN pupils in a supportive and inclusive secondary school in Waterlooville.

Your Role as a Teaching Assistant:

As a Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Provide tailored support to students with special educational needs, helping them overcome barriers to learning.
  • Work closely with teachers to adapt lessons and materials for individual student needs.
  • Foster a supportive, positive, and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Use strategies and interventions to assist with communication, emotional regulation, and behaviour management.
  • Monitor progress and provide feedback to teachers and SEN coordinators.
  • Develop strong relationships with students, encouraging confidence, independence, and engagement in learning.

Who Would Make a Great Teaching Assistant?

This role is ideal for someone who:

  • Has prior experience working with children or young people with SEN, such as autism, ADHD, or speech and language difficulties.
  • Is patient, empathetic, and passionate about supporting students to achieve their potential.
  • Possesses strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Holds relevant qualifications or training in SEN (desirable but not essential, as additional training can be provided).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
