Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant – Special Educational Needs (SEN)
Location: Walsall
Contract Type: Temporary (with potential for permanency)

About the Role
We are seeking dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistants to join a successful 7–18 special school for pupils with an Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP). The school caters to pupils with moderate learning difficulties alongside additional needs, including autism, speech and language difficulties, and some behavioural challenges.
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and other staff to provide personalised support that enables pupils to thrive in a safe and inclusive environment. This role offers an opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of pupils, helping them to overcome barriers and achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide tailored support to pupils in small class settings, working closely with the class teacher.
- Assist with lesson preparation, delivery, and pupil engagement, ensuring individual needs are met.
- Support pupils’ social, emotional, and behavioural development in line with their EHCPs.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and external professionals to provide holistic care.
- Implement and support the principles of the Team Teach behaviour management system.
- Assist in creating a safe, nurturing, and stimulating learning environment.
About You
- Experience working with pupils with special educational needs is essential.
- A valid Child and Adult Enhanced DBS is required (or willingness to obtain one with assistance provided).
- Demonstrate patience, empathy, and a passion for working with children with additional needs.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with staff and pupils.
- Resilient, adaptable, and committed to supporting the holistic development of pupils.
- Knowledge of the Team Teach behaviour management system is desirable but not essential, as training will be provided.
