The Role

We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate full-time Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant secondary school in Truro. This role involves supporting a diverse group of students, including those with mild learning disabilities. The successful candidate will play a crucial part in assisting students with their educational and social development.

Responsibilities

  • Classroom Support: Assist teachers in the delivery of lessons, providing support to students to enhance their learning experience.
  • Individual Support: Work one-on-one or in small groups with students with mild learning disabilities, helping them to achieve their educational goals.
  • Resource Preparation: Help prepare classroom materials and resources, ensuring they are accessible for all students.
  • Behaviour Management: Support the teacher in managing classroom behaviour and promoting a positive learning environment.
  • Progress Monitoring: Track and report on students' progress, identifying areas where additional support may be needed.
  • Communication: Liaise with teachers, parents, and other professionals to ensure the well-being and progress of students.

Requirements

  • Qualifications: A relevant qualification in education or childcare (Level 2 or above) is preferred, but not essential.
  • Experience: Previous experience working with secondary school students and/or students with learning disabilities is highly desirable.
  • Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
  • Adaptability: Flexibility and creativity in adapting teaching methods to meet the individual needs of students.
  • Commitment: A genuine passion for supporting students' educational and personal development.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
