Teaching Assistant
Job description
Teaching Assistant required at an independent special school offering weekly boarding and day placements for boys aged 5 to 13 who have Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Their mission is to provide a nurturing environment that fosters the social, emotional, intellectual, and physical development of students, enabling them to reach their full potential.
Position Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant. The successful candidate will support teachers in delivering personalised educational programs, assist students with diverse learning needs, and contribute to a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist teachers in preparing lesson materials and setting up classroom equipment.
- Support individual students or small groups to reinforce learning concepts.
- Supervise students during class, transitions, and recreational activities.
- Help manage classroom behavior and promote a positive learning atmosphere.
- Assist in maintaining accurate records of student progress and behavior.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience working with children or young adults with special educational needs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting students' learning and development.
- Relevant qualifications in education or child development are advantageous.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
