Teaching Assistant
Job description
A specialized school for students with additional needs is seeking a Teaching Assistant to provide vital support to its young people. This school serves students with a range of Social, Emotional, Mental Health, and Behavioral needs, as well as various other challenges, including ADHD, Asperger’s, SpLD, MLD, OCD, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, Dyscalculia, Foetal Alcohol Syndrome, and more.
Many of the students also experience significant social issues and challenging home environments, leading to complex emotional difficulties. All students at this school have unique needs that have proven too complex for mainstream education settings. The school offers tailored support and a differentiated curriculum, allowing students to progress and achieve their full potential.
The responsibilities of the Teaching Assistant include:
- Assisting students with tasks assigned by the Teacher
- Providing 1:1 support to pupils as needed
- Helping to de-escalate challenging behaviors when necessary
- Reporting on student progress
- Maintaining a positive and calming presence in the classroom
This role is ideal for individuals who:
- Have experience in schools, care settings, youth work, or mental health support
- Have personal experience supporting those with additional needs, including mental health challenges
- Possess a proactive approach
- Demonstrate a calm and patient demeanor

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
