Job description

Are you passionate about education and eager to make a positive impact on young people's lives? Teaching Personnel is delighted to offer a fantastic opportunity to join the dedicated team at Regent's Park College as a Teaching Assistant.

About the school:

The school is situated in the vibrant city of Southampton and is a thriving and inclusive secondary school with a proud record of academic excellence and a supportive community ethos. The school was rated 'Good' in its most recent Ofsted inspection, reflecting its commitment to providing a high-quality education for all students.

The college is well-equipped with modern facilities, including state-of-the-art science laboratories, a fully equipped sports hall, and specialist rooms for art, design, and technology. The school also has an exceptional focus on student wellbeing, with dedicated spaces for mental health support and pastoral care.

Special Educational Needs (SEN) Provision:

The school is particularly noted for its inclusive approach to education, with a robust SEN department that ensures all students, regardless of their needs, receive the support necessary to thrive. The school provides:

  • Tailored learning plans for students with SEN, developed in collaboration with parents, teachers, and external specialists.
  • Specialist support staff, including SENCOs (Special Educational Needs Coordinators), who work closely with students to implement personalised strategies for learning.
  • Accessible learning environments, including sensory rooms and quiet spaces designed to support students with a range of needs, including autism, ADHD, and learning difficulties.
  • Regular training for all staff on SEN best practices to ensure that every student can access the curriculum effectively.

The Role:

As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting both the academic and personal development of students, including those with SEN. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting in the delivery of tailored support to students with SEN, both in mainstream classes and within specialised settings.
  • Supporting teachers with classroom activities and management, ensuring a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Working with students on a one-to-one basis or in small groups to provide additional help where needed.
  • Contributing to the planning and organisation of school events, trips, and extracurricular activities.

This role is perfect for someone who is passionate about inclusive education, patient, and committed to helping all students succeed. Prior experience in a similar role or working with SEN students is advantageous but not essential, as full training and support will be provided.
