Are you passionate about supporting students with individual learning needs and helping them to succeed? We are looking for a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join our friendly and supportive team in Portsmouth, starting in January 2025.

We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to work closely with a student to provide tailored support and help them thrive both academically and socially.
The Role:
As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will provide individual support to a student with specific learning needs. You will work closely with the class teacher to ensure the student’s learning is tailored to their abilities, helping them to engage with the curriculum and make progress in their education. This role offers the opportunity to make a real difference in a child’s life, supporting them to build their confidence, independence, and academic skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one support to a student with additional learning needs.
- Work closely with the class teacher to implement personalized learning plans.
- Adapt lesson content and resources to meet the student’s individual needs.
- Support the student with tasks, both in the classroom and during independent work.
- Monitor the student’s progress and provide feedback to the teacher.
- Assist with the student’s social and emotional development, fostering their confidence and independence.
- Help manage classroom behaviour and ensure the student feels safe and supported.
- Liaise with the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) and other staff to ensure the student’s needs are being met.
What We’re Looking For:
- Previous experience working with children, preferably in a one-to-one setting (desirable).
- A compassionate and patient approach, with a commitment to supporting children with additional needs.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build a positive relationship with the student.
- Flexibility and adaptability, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- A willingness to work as part of a team and contribute to the wider school community.
- A relevant qualification (e.g., CACHE Level 2 or 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning, or equivalent) is desirable but not essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
