Position: Phonics Learning Assistant (Level 3)
Location: Durham
Hours: Part-Time, Mornings Only
Pay: £12.90 - £13.50 per hour
Start Date: After the Easter Holidays
Teaching Personnel is delighted to be recruiting for an experienced and qualified Level 3 Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Durham. This role is based in the school’s EYFS department, primarily supporting nursery-aged children with their phonics development.
This part-time role focuses on mornings only but has the potential to transition into a full-time position for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities:
- Small Group Instruction: Deliver targeted phonics sessions to small groups of students requiring additional support or enrichment.
- Preparation of Materials: Create and organize engaging phonics activities, games, and resources to support learning in the classroom.
- Phonics Assessments: Administer and record assessments to monitor student progress and identify areas needing intervention.
- Collaboration with Teachers: Work closely with teaching staff to implement differentiated strategies that meet the varied needs of students.
Requirements:
- Level 3 Qualification in supporting teaching and learning or equivalent.
- Proven experience working with phonics instruction in an EYFS or KS1 setting.
- Strong behaviour management skills and a passion for supporting children’s learning and development.
- Familiarity with the EYFS National Curriculum.
- A committed and enthusiastic approach to maintaining high standards in teaching and learning.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
