Position: Teaching Assistant
Location: Derby, Derbyshire
Salary: £22,102.72 - £23,621.50 (FTE £25,729.60 - £28,059.60)
Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent, Term time only

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a brand-new, purpose-built special school opening in summer 2025.
Our client is committed to providing a nurturing, safe, and inspiring environment where every child can thrive. As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in shaping the school’s culture from the very beginning, supporting students in reaching their full potential.
The Role
As a Teaching Assistant, you will support students’ educational, social, and emotional development. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Assisting the class teacher in delivering tailored lessons and activities.
- Providing one-to-one and small group support to engage students in learning.
- Implementing and supporting Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs).
- Encouraging positive behaviour and emotional regulation.
- Creating a safe, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment.
- Supporting students with personal care when needed, ensuring dignity and respect.
- Monitoring and recording student progress, contributing to reports for teachers and families.

What We’re Looking For
- Experience working with children, preferably in an educational or SEND setting (desirable but not essential).
- A passion for supporting children with ASC and SEMH needs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, empathy, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- Relevant qualifications, such as Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant (desirable but not essential).
