Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location: Clitheroe, Lancashire
Start Date: January 2025

We are seeking an enthusiastic SEMH Teaching Assistant to join our caring team at a dynamic mainstream secondary school in Clitheroe, Lancashire. This rewarding role will begin in January 2025 and offers the chance to make a genuine impact in students' lives, helping them overcome challenges and thrive in a supportive educational environment.
Role Overview:
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with students requiring additional social, emotional, and behavioural support. You’ll assist classroom teachers in creating a positive and inclusive learning environment, work with individual students or small groups to boost their confidence and provide guidance to help them manage their emotions and behaviour in a school setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing one-to-one and small group support for students with SEMH needs.
- Assisting the classroom teacher in implementing strategies to support student engagement and emotional well-being.
- Creating a safe, supportive, and structured environment that promotes positive interactions.
- Building trusting relationships with students to help them develop social skills and resilience.
- Liaising with teachers, parents, and support staff to track and support each student's progress.
- Promoting a culture of inclusion and respect in line with the school's values.
About You:
- Experience: Previous experience supporting young people with SEMH needs in a school or care setting is preferred.
- Skills: Strong communication and listening skills, with a compassionate and patient approach.
- Knowledge: Understanding of social, emotional, and behavioural challenges and effective techniques to support SEMH needs.
- Qualifications: Relevant qualifications in education, mental health support, or youth work are advantageous, though passion and experience are highly valued.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
