Teaching Assistant

Location: Caldicot, Wales.

Start Date: September 2024.

Hours: 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM, Monday to Friday.

Pay Rate: Starting from £77.40 per day.


About the Role:

Teaching Personnel is delighted to partner with a secondary school in Caldicot to recruit a dedicated and passionate Teaching Assistant. This is an exciting opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of young learners aged 11-16. The school boasts convenient public transport links and is easily accessible from the M4, making it an ideal location for those traveling from surrounding areas.

As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the educational needs of students, particularly those with additional learning requirements. Your duties may involve working one-on-one with pupils who need personalised support, as well as facilitating small group interventions tailored to meet diverse developmental needs. Students may present with a range of conditions including ADHD, ASD, Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, and Behavioural, Emotional and Social Difficulties (BESD). Your patience, empathy, and proactive attitude will contribute significantly to their educational journey.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the classroom teacher in delivering engaging and effective lessons.
  • Prepare and organise classroom activities and resources prior to lessons.
  • Support students in their learning, providing additional assistance to individuals or small groups.
  • Create a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student participation and confidence.
  • Build trusting relationships with students to help them feel secure and supported.
  • Monitor and track student progress, offering feedback to the teacher regarding individual achievements and challenges.
  • Implement guidance strategies for managing classroom behaviour in line with school policies.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other support staff to develop tailored learning plans to accommodate individual needs.
  • Engage in continuing professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and effectiveness as an educator.

Ideal Candidate:

We are looking for individuals who are enthusiastic about education and are eager to engage with young people. The successful candidate will embody the following qualities:

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with students and staff.
  • A positive and resilient attitude, with a genuine desire to see students succeed.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • An understanding of diverse learning needs and the ability to adapt approaches accordingly.
  • Reliability and commitment to fostering a safe and productive learning environment.
  • Previous experience in a similar role or working with children is beneficial but not required.

Requirements:

  • Enhanced Child DBS clearance or willingness to apply for one.
  • Registered with the Education Workforce Council (EWC) or willing to register.
  • Ability to provide two most recent professional references.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
  • Completion of Level 2 Safeguarding training provided by Teaching Personnel.

Teaching Personnel will provide support with all of the above.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
