SEN & SEMH Teaching Assistant 

Location: Bristol (BS3) 

Key Stage One & Key Stage Two 

Daily Rates: £89- £110 

 

Are you passionate about supporting children? Do have experience or want to gain experience working with children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and/ or Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges?  

We’re looking for an enthusiastic and compassionate individual to join us as a Teaching Assistant. In this role, you’ll support students aged 5-11, helping those who face challenges like anxiety, depression, emotional regulation issues, behavioural needs, and communication difficulties. 

 

Position details 

  • Start: Immediate and to continue till the end of the academic year  

  • Hours: 8:30 – 3:30. Part-time and full-time roles available, Mon – Fri term time only  

  • Location: South Bristol  

  • Parking: on-site parking and accessible bus routes  

  • The potential of a contract with the school to the right candidate (if that’s what you want) 

 

What you’ll do 

  • Support the classroom teacher in delivering the school’s curriculum, working with students individually or in small groups. 

  • Work in classrooms with 8-10 children with other teaching assistants supporting the learning and development of the children. 

  • Build strong, trusting relationships with students to support their emotional development. 

  • Create a safe, engaging, and inclusive environment where students can succeed. 

  • Help lay the foundations for students to excel academically and emotionally. 

 

Who we’re looking for 

  • Someone with a genuine passion for working with children with additional needs. 

  • Experience is not essential, but dedication, enthusiasm, and a willingness to learn are key. 

  • Personal experience with SEN/SEMH is a plus but not required. 

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to manage behaviour effectively.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
