We are looking for an enthusiastic and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our team and provide invaluable support to students with SEMH needs, helping them overcome challenges and reach their full potential.
About the Role
As a SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with students who require additional emotional and behavioural support in their learning. You will play a crucial role in creating a safe, nurturing, and structured environment, helping students to develop confidence, resilience, and a positive attitude toward education.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with SEMH needs.
- Assist in delivering tailored learning activities
- Support students in regulating their emotions and developing positive coping strategies.
- Help to implement behaviour support plans and promote positive relationships in the classroom.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to support student progress.
- Foster a calm and structured environment that encourages learning and personal growth.
- Assist with daily routines, ensuring students feel safe and supported at all times.
- Encourage self-esteem, independence, and resilience in students.
What We’re Looking For
- Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs, SEN, or behavioural challenges.
- A patient, empathetic, and understanding approach to supporting students.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to de-escalate situations calmly and positively.
- A commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
- Understanding of trauma-informed practices and mental health awareness is desirable.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
