Job Title: Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant
Location: Bournemouth, Dorset
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
Contract Type: Full-Time, Term-Time Only (with possible permanent contract)
About the Role:
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant and inclusive school in Bournemouth. As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with a variety of learning needs, ensuring they have the opportunity to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a strong desire to make a positive impact on the lives of students with SEN, working closely with class teachers, SEN coordinators, and other support staff to create a nurturing and supportive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with special educational needs.
- Assist in the delivery of differentiated learning activities and tasks.
- Support students with personal care or medical needs, where required.
- Help manage classroom behaviour and promote positive engagement.
- Collaborate with the SENCO and teaching staff to implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
- Monitor students’ progress and provide feedback to teachers and parents/carers.
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment.
Key Requirements:
- Experience working with children, particularly those with special educational needs, is desirable.
- A patient, empathetic, and caring attitude.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Ability to be flexible and adapt to the varying needs of students.
- Knowledge of SEN provisions, including autism, dyslexia, and other learning difficulties, would be an advantage.
- Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent) is desirable but not essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
