Job description

We are currently looking for dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join a SEN/ASC unit in a mainstream secondary school in Bournemouth. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a supportive team that helps students achieve their full potential.

About the Role:

  • Location: Bournemouth
  • Start Date: ASAP/Feb ½ Term
  • Role Type: Temporary (with potential for permanent positions for the right candidate)
  • Student Group: Students aged 11-16 with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)/Language & Communication Difficulties

As a Teaching Assistant within our SEN Unit, you will work closely with students who have a range of special educational needs, including learning difficulties, Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Your role will involve providing tailored support to individuals and small groups, helping them engage with their learning and thrive in a safe, inclusive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and group support to students, helping them engage with their learning.
  • Assist in managing student behaviour and supporting emotional well-being.
  • Support students during daily activities and routines, ensuring a positive and encouraging atmosphere.
  • Help teachers prepare learning materials and classroom activities.
  • Collaborate with the wider team to monitor student progress and implement tailored strategies.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with special educational needs is desirable but not essential.
  • A patient, understanding, and compassionate approach.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • A proactive mindset with a genuine desire to make a positive impact on students' lives.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
