Job Advertisement: Full-Time Teaching Assistant for SEN School in Bournemouth

Are you passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of young learners with Special Educational Needs (SEN)? Do you have experience supporting pupils with Autism, SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health), and other complex needs? If so, we would love to hear from you!
We are a friendly and dedicated SEN school in Bournemouth, providing a nurturing and inclusive environment for children aged 5-11. Our pupils have Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and require a unique approach to learning that supports their individual needs, including pupils who have been excluded from mainstream education.
About the Role:
As a full-time Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with both teaching staff and other professionals to support pupils on their learning journey. Your role will involve:
- Providing one-to-one and small group support for students with autism, SEMH, and other additional needs.
- Supporting pupils in accessing the curriculum in a way that is tailored to their specific needs and abilities.
- Assisting with the development of individualised learning plans and goals.
- Promoting positive behaviour and well-being in the classroom.
- Encouraging social interaction and helping students to build essential life skills.
- Working closely with staff to ensure a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment.
About You:
We are looking for someone who is:
- Passionate about working with children with SEN, particularly those with autism and SEMH.
- Patient, caring, and resilient, with a proactive approach to supporting challenging behaviours.
- Experienced in supporting children with additional needs (desirable but not essential).
- Able to build strong relationships with pupils, staff, and families.
- Confident in providing individualised support to meet a variety of needs.
- Willing to engage in ongoing professional development and training.
- Ideally, holds relevant qualifications or training in supporting SEN (e.g., CACHE Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification, or similar).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
