Join Our Team as a Reception Teaching Assistant
Are you passionate about supporting children with diverse needs? We are looking for a dedicated Reception Teaching Assistant to join our team in Bishop Auckland to start on a hort-short term afternoon basis (12:30 pm – 3:30 pm) with the potential to move to a full-day role.
The Role:
- A supportive and inclusive learning environment with opportunities to make a real difference.
- A dynamic role working across the classroom, sensory room, and 1:1 support.
- Collaboration with a great team including another staff member to support up to 6 children with high levels of ASD in the sensory room.
- Potential for increased hours and transition to a full-day position based on need.
- Ongoing training and support to help you thrive in the role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide general in-class support during Reception lessons.
- Assist with small group work in our sensory room, supporting children with high levels of ASD.
- Offer 1:1 support for a pupil with SEMH needs, fostering their emotional and educational development.
- Help create a calm and nurturing environment where children can thrive.
What we're looking for:
- Experience working with children, particularly in Early Years or with additional needs (ASD and SEMH).
- A patient, compassionate, and flexible approach.
- Strong communication skills and a commitment to working collaboratively with staff, children, and families.
- Ideally, some experience supporting children in a 1:1 or small group setting.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
