Teaching Assistant – Primary ALN
Teaching Personnel are seeking a part-time, flexible Teaching Assistant (TA) for a primary school in Pontypridd working with young learners with a mixture of Additional Learning Needs (ALN). The school provides mainstream education with additional support to 200 pupils, with approximately 15% of pupils having ALN such as Autism & ADHD. Pupils are in mainstream classes with additional learning support to assist pupils with such conditions.
Location: Pontypridd
Rate: £90
Contract: Part-time & Flexible
Start: April 2025
As a Teaching Assistant, you will be provided with complimentary yet compulsory (Level 2) online safeguarding training to complete throughout your registration process with Teaching Personnel. Trial shifts in this school or similar local schools will be arranged for you following successfully clearing mandatory vetting checks, including:
- Enhanced DBS check registered on the Update Service
- 24 months’ worth of employment/ study references
- Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC)
A Teaching Assistant is required to accompany an assigned pupil(s) within classes as well as support the ALNCo and their team of LSA’s in providing a comforting, calming and attentive learning environment.
Autism & ADHD are complex conditions which affect pupils in different ways including: Sensory overload; coping with change; communication; empathy; attention deficit; hyperactivity; challenging behaviours & social skills.
Teaching Personnel offer a range of opportunities for professional development and training, with occasional Level 2 Team Teach training being available and additional complimentary online courses via a learning portal that you would have access to at any time. These trainings are highly valued in schools and can improve career opportunities, especially in ALN bases.

The successful Teaching Assistant will have:
- A passion for education
- Commitment to completing all required training courses promptly
- Dedication and willingness to support pupils with a range of needs
- Transferable social and communication skills from previous employment or hobbies
- An enhanced DBS check on the update service (guidance will be given)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
