About The School:
The school is a specialised, inclusion-focused school in Eastleigh, Hampshire, supporting secondary-age students who are on short-term placements from their original schools. These students have complex Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) struggles or learning difficulties. Their mission is to create a supportive, engaging, and inclusive environment where every child can thrive, learn, and grow both academically and personally. You would join our extremely talented Academic team and work in collaboration with our Therapeutic, Intervention and Active teams to create individualised and targeted programmes to support, engage, inspire and challenge young people who present with a spectrum of needs. 

We are currently looking for a passionate and dedicated, fully qualified Mathematics Teacher to join our team on a permanent contract to teach and inspire students with a range of learning needs and SEMH challenges.

The Role:
As a Mathematics Teacher, you will deliver engaging and accessible mathematics lessons to secondary-age students who have complex learning and behavioural needs. You must be a qualified teacher able to teach Mathematics across both key stage 3 and 4 up to GCSE level. You will adapt your teaching methods to meet the individual needs of each student, ensuring that all learners have the opportunity to develop their mathematical skills and build confidence.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Planning and delivering tailored Mathematics lessons that are engaging and appropriate for students with SEMH and learning difficulties.
  • Supporting students in developing their mathematical understanding, problem-solving skills, and application of mathematical concepts.
  • Assessing student progress, providing constructive feedback, and ensuring that students understand how to improve.
  • Creating an inclusive and supportive classroom environment that fosters self-esteem, confidence, and emotional well-being.
  • Collaborating with other staff members and support teams to ensure each student’s individual learning needs are met.
  • Promoting a positive attitude toward learning, motivating students to engage fully in their mathematics education.

About You:
We are looking for someone who is:

  • A qualified Mathematics Teacher with experience working with secondary-age students.
  • Passionate about mathematics and enthusiastic about helping students discover its relevance and applications.
  • Experienced in working with students who have SEMH struggles or learning difficulties.
  • Skilled in differentiating lessons to support a wide range of abilities and learning needs.
  • Able to work effectively as part of a team and build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Patient, empathetic, and committed to creating a positive and supportive learning environment.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Experience working with students with SEMH or learning difficulties.
  • Experience teaching Mathematics in a secondary school setting.
  • A current DBS check or willingness to obtain one.
