Location: Bath, BA14
Salary: £ per annum (dependent on experience)
Contract Type: Full-time/Permanent Monday - Friday.

About the Role
We are seeking an exceptional and passionate Qualified Teacher (QTS) to join our dedicated team at a specialist school for a small primary & secondary-aged students (11–19 years) with complex autism and additional disabilities. This is a unique opportunity to work in a day and residential school that provides highly individualised, therapeutic, and educational provision within a total ommunication approach.

You will deliver engaging and bespoke lessons to small class groups (typically with 1:3 support) and contribute to the holistic development of each student. You will work as part of an integrated team of teachers, therapists, and support staff, ensuring each pupil’s learning and wellbeing are central to everything you do.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver a thematic, engaging curriculum tailored to the needs of students with autism and additional learning difficulties.
  • Promote communication, independence, and functional life skills in line with the triad of impairments.
  • Foster a low-arousal and inclusive classroom environment to support positive behaviour and engagement.
  • Collaborate closely with therapists and support staff to provide holistic and integrated provision.
  • Monitor and assess pupil progress, using this to inform individualised planning.
  • Facilitate access to enrichment activities, including outdoor learning, sensory circuits, work placements, and therapeutic interventions.
  • Contribute to the Preparation for Adulthood curriculum for students aged 14–19.

About You

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in the UK.
  • Demonstrate experience or interest in working with students with autism and additional disabilities.
  • Have a strong understanding of Positive Behaviour Support and a child-centred approach.
  • Exhibit excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Show creativity, flexibility, and resilience in delivering innovative and inclusive education.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
