TA & Sports Coach - April Start!
Job description
Exciting Opportunity for a Sports Coach and Teaching Assistant in Everton
A highly regarded primary school in the Everton area is seeking a talented and versatile support assistant for a unique part-time role combining the responsibilities of a sports coach and teaching assistant. This individual will play a crucial role in fostering strong relationships with pupils and supporting their academic and social development.
The school benefits from excellent transport links and has built a strong reputation for providing exceptional support to its pupils. The Headteacher is keen to introduce this new full-time position, specifically designed to assist children with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs who require additional support. As funding for the role has only recently been approved, the finer details are currently being finalised.
As the appointed support assistant, you will work between 25 and 32 hours per week, balancing your responsibilities between sports coaching and pastoral mentoring. Your role will primarily involve providing tailored support, either on a one-to-one basis or in small groups, to children who experience challenges integrating into mainstream education due to various special educational needs.
A key aspect of this role is to enhance pupils’ social skills and confidence through engaging sports activities. You will also be responsible for delivering high-quality PE sessions and organising sports activities during break and lunchtime.
Initially, this role will be offered on a temporary basis through Teaching Personnel, with a start date scheduled for April 2025. The school, rated GOOD by Ofsted, is renowned for its commitment to excellence. The Headteacher is approachable and ensures that new staff receive comprehensive support and guidance throughout their induction period.
This is a truly rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of students, particularly those facing additional challenges. The school is seeking candidates with previous experience in a primary school setting, ideally with exposure to both Key Stage 1 (KS1) and Key Stage 2 (KS2). Applicants with relevant qualifications and/or experience in delivering sports programmes to young children will be given priority.
