Teaching Personnel are currently recruiting for a Teaching Assistant to work within a Specialist Teaching Facility. Our partner school is based in the Llandeilo area and is a purpose-built specialist facility to support children with autism. The pupils in this school age from 11-19 years, all are on the autism spectrum with some children having severe or profound learning disabilities. The school has a caring and passionate group of staff and employ several STF teaching assistants who will be more than happy to support the successful candidate.

STF Teaching Assistants must:

• Have experience of working with children with autism and/or severe or profound learning disabilities
• Have a confident and friendly personality
• Possess resilience to overcome challenges
• Remain calm in stressful situations
• Demonstrate empathy and care for the children and young people they work with

Role of a STF Teaching Assistant:

• Supervise and provide support for pupils, including those with additional learning needs (ALN), ensuring their safety and access to learning activities.
• Establish positive relationships with pupils, parents and colleagues.
• Promote the inclusion and acceptance of pupils.
• Encourage pupils to interact with others and engage in activities led by the teacher.
• Promote self-esteem and independence.
• Use strategies, in liaison with the teacher, to support pupils to achieve learning goals.
• Provide detailed and regular feedback to teacher on pupils’ progress.
• Assist with the supervision of pupils out of lesson times, including before and after school and at lunchtime.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
