Job description

Sports Coach – Alternative Provision School (Fazakerley)

An alternative provision school in Fazakerley is seeking a dedicated Sports Coach to join their team on a full-time, temp-to-perm basis. This role is ideal for an individual with a genuine passion for sports and the ability to engage and motivate students who have struggled in mainstream education.

The Role:

The successful candidate will work closely with students, using sports and physical activity as a tool to re-engage learners, build confidence, and develop key skills. Some students have the potential to return to mainstream schools, so the ability to foster positive attitudes towards learning and teamwork is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging and structured sports sessions tailored to students’ needs.
  • Encourage participation and promote the benefits of physical activity.
  • Build strong relationships with students to boost self-esteem and engagement.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff to support students’ development.
  • Manage behavior effectively and create a positive learning environment.

Requirements:

  • Experience coaching students in a school or community sports setting.
  • Ideally, experience working in alternative provision or with students facing barriers to learning (desirable but not essential).
  • Strong behaviour management and relationship-building skills.
  • Patience, resilience, and the ability to inspire young people.
  • A coaching qualification or relevant sports degree is advantageous.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a passionate and committed Sports Coach to make a real impact in a supportive and rewarding environment.
