Are you passionate about sports and eager to make a difference in education? We are working with schools across Bristol that are dedicated to supporting students with Additional Learning Needs (ALN) and are looking for energetic, sports-minded individuals to join their teams.

If you have a background in sports or athletics, your skills can be a tremendous asset in an educational setting. Previous experience with additional needs—whether professional or personal—is highly valued, as it will help you adapt quickly and contribute effectively in the classroom.

Why Sports Professionals Excel in Education

People with a sports background develop a wide range of transferable skills that make them highly successful in education, including:

  • Leadership & Teamwork – Ability to motivate, guide, and support students effectively.
  •  Communication Skills – Clear, confident, and engaging interactions with students and colleagues.
  •  Resilience & Adaptability – Staying positive and problem-solving in dynamic environments.
  •  Discipline & Time Management – Organising and managing multiple responsibilities efficiently.
  •  Motivational Skills – Encouraging students to stay engaged and strive for their best.
  •  Patience & Emotional Intelligence – Understanding and supporting students with diverse needs.

These skills make sports-minded individuals well-suited for teaching, coaching, and mentoring—helping students develop both academically and personally.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Supporting students in their learning, ensuring they stay engaged and involved.
  •  Applying effective strategies to manage behaviour and encourage participation.
  •  Building strong rapport with students and colleagues in a collaborative environment.
  • Taking part in relevant training and professional development opportunities.

Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
  •  Understanding of child development and experience supporting those with additional needs or challenging behaviours.

If you're ready to use your sports background to make a meaningful impact in education, we’d love to hear from you! Apply below, and we’ll be in touch to discuss the role and next steps.
