Position: Specialist Teaching Assistant

Location: Lichfield

Hours: Monday to Friday (8:30am to 3:30pm)

Contract Type: Full-Time (Temporary with the opportunity to go permanent)

Weekly Salary: £425 to £500

The Role

As a Specialist Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Work closely with teachers to support students with a range of SEN needs, including ASD, ADHD, and learning difficulties.
  • Provide one-on-one and small-group support to foster academic and personal development.
  • Implement individualized strategies and interventions to enhance learning.
  • Assist with classroom preparation and maintain a positive learning environment.
  • Support students in developing social, emotional, and communication skills.

What We’re Looking For

We welcome applicants with a range of experiences, but you must have:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and resilience in challenging situations.
  • A passion for helping children overcome barriers to learning.
  • A DBS on the update service or willingness to apply for one.

Desirable but not essential:

  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant, SEN training).
  • Experience with specific interventions or therapies (e.g., Makaton, PECS).
