Graduate Teaching Assistant (SEN)
Location: Lichfield
Hours: Monday to Friday (8:30am to 3:30pm)
Weekly Salary: £425 to £450
Contract: Temporary: (Opportunities to go permanent)

A specialist school in Lichfield is looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Graduate Teaching Assistant to join thier supportive team, focusing on students with Special Educational Needs (SEN). This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate interested in gaining hands-on experience in education, with the potential for career growth and professional development. The school offers 76 places for children aged 7 – 18 with social, emotional, and mental health needs, as well as autism and other associated conditions. Situated in a superb therapeutic setting, the school was awarded TES special needs school of the year in 2014. The school provides an individual learning plan which is tailored to meet the pupils needs and provides a curriculum is complimented by integral therapeutic activities delivered by the psychology and occupational therapy teams. The school has exceptional facilities such as food technology suites, music departments and a car mechanics department, with around 8 students per class.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supporting SEN students individually or in small groups to facilitate their learning and development.
- Assisting teachers in the preparation and delivery of tailored lessons.
- Promoting positive behavior and social skills, both inside and outside the classroom.
- Offering personalized encouragement and strategies to help students overcome learning barriers.
- Collaborating with the SEN team to track student progress and adapt support as needed.
What We’re Looking For:
- A recent graduate with a passion for inclusive education and SEN.
- Excellent communication skills, patience, and a positive attitude.
- The ability to build strong relationships with students, staff, and families.
- Adaptability and resilience in a dynamic learning environment.
- Previous experience working with children or young adults (desirable but not essential).
- An enhanced child DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply for one).
