Specialist Primary Teacher for Alternative Provision
Location: Cardiff, CF5
Salary: £166.32 per day minimum (M2)
Contract Type: Temporary
Start Date: 28th April 2025

The Role:
We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic teacher to join our team. You will be responsible for leading a small class of children with complex learning needs, providing a curriculum that meets their diverse and individual requirements. This will include adapting lessons to suit the children's needs, ensuring they have access to a rich and engaging learning experience, and supporting them to achieve their personal goals.
As a teacher within this unique setting, you will need to be flexible, creative, and able to think on your feet. You will also lead a small team of teaching assistants and work collaboratively to create a positive and inclusive environment for our students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Delivering an adapted version of the primary curriculum, focusing on the individual needs of each student
- Providing tailored support for students with complex medical needs, profound and multiple learning difficulties, Autism, ADHD, and other specific learning needs
- Creating a positive, engaging, and inclusive classroom environment that encourages learning, development, and independence
- Leading and motivating a team of teaching assistants to ensure the smooth running of the classroom
- Monitoring and assessing student progress, providing feedback, and adjusting teaching approaches accordingly
- Working closely with other professionals (therapists, medical staff, etc.) to meet the holistic needs of the children
- Supporting students’ emotional and social development through a structured and empathetic approach
Who We’re Looking For:
- A qualified teacher (QTS or equivalent) with experience or a strong interest in working with children with additional learning needs
- Experience working with children with complex medical needs, profound and multiple learning difficulties, and/or a dual diagnosis of Autism and ADHD
- An ability to adapt and differentiate lessons, ensuring that every child is engaged and included
- A proactive, charismatic individual who can motivate and inspire students and staff alike
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to manage a small team effectively
- Empathy, patience, and a genuine passion for supporting vulnerable children
- The confidence to work flexibly and creatively to meet the diverse needs of our learners
