Job description

We are looking for candidates with experience in childcare, social care, support and care work, nursery experience, kids clubs and community groups and any relevant experience of working with vulnerable people who are looking for their next challenge! 

This is a rewarding opportunity to support Primary and Secondary students with a variety of additional needs including Autism (ASD), development delay, speech and language difficultiesmoderate learning difficulties (MLD), and social, emotional, and mental health needs (SEMH).

Role Details:

  • Position: SEN Teaching Assistant

  • Start Date: September 2025

  • Pay: £13.75 per hour (paid weekly)

  • Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday (school hours, term-time only)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 or small group support to pupils with SEN across various age groups

  • Assist with learning and activities, both in and outside of the classroom

  • Support students in developing communication, emotional regulation, and social skills

  • Help implement behavioural strategies and promote a positive classroom environment

  • Collaborate with teaching staff, therapists, and SEN specialists

What We’re Looking For:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people

  • Patience, empathy, and a calm approach to supporting and managing challenging behaviours

  • A proactive and flexible attitude, with a genuine desire to make a difference

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • A valid Enhanced Child Workforce DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one at your own cost)

  • Relevant training (e.g. Team Teach, PECS, Makaton) is desirable but not essential
