Are you a passionate and knowledgeable Sociology teacher looking for a new opportunity? A secondary school in Portsmouth is seeking a dedicated Sociology Teacher to join their team from May or September. This is an exciting opportunity to inspire students and develop their understanding of society, culture, and human behaviour.
The Role:
As a Sociology Teacher, you will:
- Teach Sociology at GCSE and/or A-Level, delivering engaging and thought-provoking lessons.
- Encourage students to think critically, analyse evidence, and develop reasoned arguments.
- Support students in understanding key sociological theories, research methods, and contemporary social issues.
- Plan and deliver high-quality lessons in line with national curriculum and exam board requirements.
- Assess and monitor student progress, providing constructive feedback to support achievement.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages discussion and independent thinking.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to enhance the Social Sciences department and contribute to curriculum development.
Candidate Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
- A degree in Sociology or a related subject.
- The ability to inspire and challenge students, promoting a passion for Sociology.
- Excellent communication and classroom management skills.
- A commitment to continuous professional development.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
