Learning Support Assistant – ASC Specialism

A well-regarded Primary School for complex SEND is seeking a dedicated and experienced Learning Support Assistant (LSA) specializing in Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC). This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of pupils, supporting their academic and social development within a structured, caring environment. Initially employed through Teaching Personnel, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to transition onto a permanent contract with the school after a successful probation period.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide focused 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with ASC, implementing strategies tailored to individual needs
  • Assist in the development and adaptation of learning materials to ensure pupils can engage meaningfully with curriculum activities
  • Foster a supportive and structured environment, promoting independence, communication, and social interaction for children with ASC
  • Collaborate effectively with classroom teachers, SEN staff, and school leadership to implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and ensure all pupils’ needs are met
  • Actively participate in ongoing training and development to stay informed of best practices in ASC and complex SEND support

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Demonstrable experience working with children with Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC), preferably within a school or childcare setting
  • Knowledge of effective strategies and interventions to support children with ASC in a learning environment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient, compassionate approach
  • Ability to collaborate within a multidisciplinary team, contributing positively to the school’s supportive ethos
  • Relevant qualifications or certifications in SEND education are advantageous
