An outstanding opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and experienced Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) to join a highly reputable and award-winning SEN school group at their Bristol site. This is a permanent position within an exceptional learning environment, committed to providing the highest standards of support for children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
The Role
The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in leading SEND provision, ensuring that every student receives the tailored support they need to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Working closely with teaching staff, support teams, and external agencies, the SENCO will develop and implement effective strategies that promote inclusivity and positive outcomes for all learners.
Key Responsibilities
- Overseeing SEND provision across the school, ensuring compliance with EHCPs (Education, Health and Care Plans).
- Leading and coordinating the SEND team, providing guidance and support to staff.
- Developing and implementing individual support plans for students with additional needs.
- Monitoring and assessing student progress, adapting interventions as required.
- Acting as the key liaison between parents, external agencies, and school leadership.
- Ensuring statutory and best-practice frameworks are met, including the SEND Code of Practice.
- Delivering training to staff on inclusive teaching strategies and SEND best practices.
Requirements
- A recognised teaching qualification (QTS/QTLS).
- NASENCO qualification (or willingness to work towards it).
- Significant experience working with children with SEND, ideally in a leadership or coordination role.
- Strong knowledge of SEND legislation, including the SEND Code of Practice.
- Exceptional communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and inspire others.
- Experience in working with EHCPs, referrals, and multi-agency collaboration.
- A commitment to inclusive education and the continuous development of SEND provision.

Role: SENCO
Contract: Fulltime, Permanent
Start: April 2025 (sooner is desirable)
Salary Dependent on experience, with SEN allowance

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
