SEN Teaching Assistant

An award-winning SEN school group is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join the permanent team at their alternative site in Wakefield. This is an exciting opportunity to make a positive impact in a nurturing, supportive environment, working with children and young people with special educational needs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support teachers in delivering engaging, tailored lessons
• Provide one-on-one and group assistance to students
• Help manage classroom behaviour
• Assist with personal care and emotional well-being, when necessary

Requirements:

• Experience working with SEN students (preferred but not essential)
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• A patient, empathetic approach to supporting students with diverse needs
• A willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment
• Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification (or willingness to work towards it)
