Position: SEN Teaching Assistant (Including Personal Care)

Location: S5 Area, Sheffield

As a Teaching Assistant in the Hub, you will play a vital role in providing both educational and personal care support to ensure the well-being and progress of each child.

Job Description:

As an SEN Teaching Assistant in the Hub, your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting students with SEN on a one-on-one basis or in small groups, tailoring your approach to their unique learning needs
  • Assisting with personal care duties, including hygiene and mobility support, ensuring dignity and respect at all times
  • Helping to create a safe and inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued and encouraged to participate
  • Supporting the development of life skills, social interaction, and communication, both in and outside the classroom
  • Working closely with the class teacher and other support staff to plan and deliver engaging activities
  • Monitoring student progress and providing feedback to the teacher, SENCO, and parents or carers
  • Assisting with classroom management and ensuring a positive learning atmosphere

Qualifications:

  • Level 2 or 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools or equivalent
  • Experience working with children with special educational needs, including physical disabilities and additional care requirements
  • Understanding of personal care and mobility support, with a commitment to ensuring students' comfort and dignity
  • Patience, empathy, and a passion for working with children with SEN
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A proactive and flexible attitude, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
