Job Advert: SEN/SEMH Teaching Assistant (ASD & ADHD Focus)

Location: Portslade
Start Date: ASAP
Position: Full-Time, Permanent

We are looking for a passionate, dedicated, and empathetic SEN/SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and nurturing school environment in Portslade. This role is ideal for individuals with a strong understanding of Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), who are committed to making a difference in the lives of students with additional needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with students who have ASC, ADHD, and other related needs, providing tailored support throughout the school day.

  • Assist with the delivery of differentiated learning activities, promoting engagement and inclusion.

  • Help manage classroom behavior, using positive behavior strategies and interventions.

  • Support students in developing social and emotional skills, fostering independence and self-confidence.

  • Collaborate with teachers and other professionals to ensure the needs of the students are met.

  • Create a safe, supportive, and structured learning environment.

Key Skills and Qualities:

  • Previous experience working with students with ASC, ADHD, or SEMH is desirable.

  • An understanding of special educational needs and the ability to adapt approaches to meet individual needs.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to make a positive impact.

  • A proactive approach to learning and problem-solving.

  • A relevant qualification in education or special needs (e.g., Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant, or similar) is advantageous but not essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
