Job Advert: SEN/SEMH Teaching Assistant (ASD & ADHD Focus)
Location: Portslade
Start Date: ASAP
Position: Full-Time, Permanent
We are looking for a passionate, dedicated, and empathetic SEN/SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and nurturing school environment in Portslade. This role is ideal for individuals with a strong understanding of Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), who are committed to making a difference in the lives of students with additional needs.
Key Responsibilities:

Work closely with students who have ASC, ADHD, and other related needs, providing tailored support throughout the school day.

Assist with the delivery of differentiated learning activities, promoting engagement and inclusion.

Help manage classroom behavior, using positive behavior strategies and interventions.

Support students in developing social and emotional skills, fostering independence and self-confidence.

Collaborate with teachers and other professionals to ensure the needs of the students are met.

Create a safe, supportive, and structured learning environment.
Key Skills and Qualities:
-
Previous experience working with students with ASC, ADHD, or SEMH is desirable.

An understanding of special educational needs and the ability to adapt approaches to meet individual needs.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to make a positive impact.

A proactive approach to learning and problem-solving.

A relevant qualification in education or special needs (e.g., Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant, or similar) is advantageous but not essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
