Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Various Schools within Northampton and surrounding areas
Start Date: Easter 2025
Contract Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Salary: Competitive, Based on Experience

We are currently recruiting for a passionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join our client schools on full-time, permanent basis. This exciting opportunity is for positions which are to start in Easter 2025.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work directly with students who have special educational needs (SEN), supporting their learning and development. You will work under the guidance of the class teacher and the SEN coordinator to help implement tailored learning plans, offer one-on-one support, and assist with classroom activities.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide individual and small group support to students with special educational needs.
  • Help implement and monitor individual education plans (IEPs) for students.
  • Assist students in various subjects and learning activities.
  • Foster an inclusive, supportive, and engaging classroom environment.
  • Collaborate with teachers and SEN staff to share insights and strategies for student progress.
  • Help with managing student behavior and creating a positive learning space.
  • Offer support during breaks, lunchtime, and with any personal care needs when necessary.

Key Requirements:

  • Experience: Experience supporting children with special educational needs is preferred but not essential. Experience in a teaching or care role is advantageous.
  • Qualifications: A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent) is desirable. Additional experience or qualifications in SEN-related fields (such as psychology, therapy, or special education) is a bonus.
  • Skills:
    • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
    • Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
    • A compassionate, patient, and flexible approach to working with SEN students.
    • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
    • Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
