Position: Full-Time, 1:1 Teaching Assistant
Pay Rate: £13.86 per hour
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated 1:1 teaching assistant to join a supportive and inclusive school in Andover supporting children with Social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH). The school caters to a diverse range of special educational needs and a primary understanding of SEMH and some other learning difficulties. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting a child with special educational needs, helping them to thrive and achieve their full potential in a nurturing and enriching environment. Experience of working with children and young people with special needs would be advantageous but not essential! Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 support to a child with special educational needs.
- Assist the child in accessing the curriculum and participating fully in classroom activities.
- Foster a positive, inclusive learning environment.
- Support with personal care and communication needs where appropriate.
- Work closely with the class teacher and other staff members to monitor progress and adapt strategies.
- Help develop and implement individualised learning plans for the child.
- Support the child’s social and emotional development, encouraging positive behaviour.
We Are Looking For Someone Who:
- Has experience working with children, ideally with special educational needs (SEN) or adults with additional needs. (Not essential)
- Holds a passion for helping children reach their potential, regardless of their challenges.
- Demonstrates patience, empathy, and a calm, nurturing approach.
- Is able to build positive relationships with children, parents, and staff.
- Holds a strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
