Teaching Personnel is seeking motivated and dedicated individuals for SEN Teaching Assistant positions in secondary schools across Newport.

This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a school setting—perfect for those pursuing a career in teaching or other roles requiring experience with children!

Role Details:

  • Salary: £450–£500 per week (dependent on experience and qualifications)
  • Hours: 08:30–15:30
  • Location: Newport, South Wales
  • Start Date: April 2025

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you'll support pupils in the classroom, work closely with teachers, encourage engagement, and provide one-to-one support for children with diverse educational and health needs.

We offer flexible working arrangements, including full-time, part-time, and customized schedules to match your availability. You'll have the opportunity to work in various schools and gain experience with children of different ages and abilities.

While challenging, this role is deeply rewarding. You'll need patience, empathy, a friendly approach, and a good sense of humor to help students flourish both academically and personally.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and organize learning materials
  • Customize teaching support to suit individual student needs
  • Support and facilitate group and classroom activities
  • Ensure students' physical, social, and emotional wellbeing
  • Create an engaging, safe learning environment

Experience, Training, and Qualifications:

  • Minimum qualification: English and Maths GCSE
  • Experience working with children with special educational needs (desirable but not essential)
  • DBS and EWC registration (Teaching Personnel will help you apply for these)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
