Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant

£12.85 - £15.00 Per hour

Job Duties:

• Provide support to students with special educational needs (SEN) in their learning activities
• Assist the class teacher in implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students with SEN
• Support students with personal care needs, including toileting, feeding, and hygiene tasks
• Help create a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students
• Assist in the preparation of classroom materials and resources
• Communicate effectively with parents, teachers, and other professionals regarding student progress

Required Qualifications:

• NVQ Level 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools or equivalent
• Previous experience working with children with SEN
• Understanding of safeguarding procedures and child protection policies

Education:

Minimum of GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths

Experience:

Experience working in a classroom setting with children with SEN

Knowledge and Skills:

• Knowledge of different learning needs and strategies for students with SEN
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team
• Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude

Preferred Qualifications:

• First Aid certification
• Makaton or other communication support training

Working Conditions:

• Work primarily within a school setting
• May involve some physical activity and lifting
• Regular interaction with students, teachers, and parents
• Potential exposure to challenging behaviours

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
