Job Title: Autism Specialist Support Staff – SEN & Mainstream Primary Schools
Location: Kensington & Chelsea / Hammersmith & Fulham
Start Date: April 2025
Salary: Competitive, based on experience

Teaching Personnel is seeking dedicated Autism Specialists to work in SEN specialist schools and mainstream primary schools, supporting students with mild to severe ASD. Many of our students have an EHCP, and some are non-verbal, so experience with PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System) and/or Makaton would be highly desirable.
The Role:

Provide 1:1 and small-group support to students with ASD, helping them access the curriculum.

Use specialist communication methods (PECS, Makaton) to engage non-verbal learners.

Work proactively to create a structured, sensory-friendly learning environment.

Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and therapists to implement individualised learning plans.

Foster independence, social skills, and emotional regulation in students.
What We’re Looking For:

Experience supporting children with ASD (mild to severe) in an educational setting.

Knowledge of PECS, Makaton, or other AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) methods is a plus.

A patient, engaging, and proactive approach to supporting learners.

Resilience and adaptability to meet the varying needs of students.

A genuine passion for SEND education and making a difference.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
