Job description

Job Title: Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant (SEN TA)

Location: BA6, Glastonbury.

Contract Type: Tuesday, Wednesday & Friday (6.5hrs per day)

Start Date: ASAP

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) to join our supportive team within the nursery. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of students with diverse learning needs.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the child with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
  • Assist the class teacher in implementing tailored learning plans and strategies for students with additional needs.
  • Promote an inclusive environment and support students’ social and emotional development.
  • Provide one-to-one support for students with varying degrees of learning difficulties, autism, or other specific needs.
  • Help students with physical and/or personal care as required.
  • Liaise with other staff, including SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator), to monitor and evaluate progress.
  • Maintain accurate records and help in the assessment of students’ progress.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children with special educational needs (SEN) especially Autism and communicational language.
  • A genuine passion for supporting children with diverse needs and backgrounds.
  • Good understanding of SEN, including autism, ADHD, and learning disabilities.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to build positive relationships with students.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
