Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Erith

Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

A highly reputable and Ofsted-rated GOOD primary school in Erith is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join their permanent staff from April 2025. Role Overview: As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will be working closely with students who have a range of additional needs, including but not limited to autism, ADHD, and learning difficulties. The role will involve providing one-to-one and small group support, adapting resources, and working collaboratively with the teaching staff to deliver high-quality, inclusive education.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support children with special educational needs both in and outside of the classroom.
  • Assist in the delivery of tailored learning activities to help students achieve their academic and social goals.
  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCo to monitor progress and adjust strategies as needed.
  • Help with behavioural support and encourage positive social interaction among students.
  • Contribute to the creation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and assist with their implementation.
  • Ensure that all students are treated with dignity and respect, maintaining a high standard of care and safeguarding.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children, particularly those with special educational needs, is essential.
  • A minimum of Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent) is required; Level 3 is desirable.
  • A sound understanding of various SEN, including autism, dyslexia, and learning difficulties.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with staff, parents, and external professionals.
  • A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach to working with children with diverse needs.
  • The ability to demonstrate a flexible and adaptable approach to learning.
  • An understanding of safeguarding procedures and the ability to follow them diligently.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of relevant SEN teaching strategies and resources.
  • First Aid qualification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Experience in supporting students on a one-to-one or small group basis.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
