1-2-1 Teaching Assistant – ADHD and Autism Support
Location: Crawley
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM – 12:00 PM (Term-time only)
Pay Rate: £12.90/hour
Start Date: January 2025
Are you a skilled professional with a proven track record in supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN)? We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Teaching Assistant to provide 1-2-1 support to a Year 2 student with ADHD and autism in a mainstream primary school.
Essential Experience Required:
- Extensive experience working with children who have ADHD, autism, and other SEN needs.
- Strong understanding of neurodiverse learning strategies, emotional regulation, and behavior management techniques.
- Team Teach or restraint training preferred, as the role requires managing challenging behaviors and de-escalating situations.
- Confidence in supporting students with emotional and behavioral challenges, with a focus on nurturing and positive reinforcement.
Your Responsibilities:
- Provide tailored 1-2-1 support to meet the student’s individual needs, ensuring emotional well-being and academic progress.
- Use effective de-escalation strategies to help manage difficult behaviors and promote positive interactions.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and staff to create a consistent and supportive learning environment.
- Adapt and monitor learning interventions to encourage both academic and personal development.
- Maintain constructive communication with parents, providing updates and guidance on how to support the student at home.
Who You Are:
- Experienced in working with SEN children in primary school settings, particularly with ADHD and autism.
- Knowledgeable about the Additional Learning Needs (ALN) Code of Practice.
- Patient, empathetic, and resilient—able to provide a highly nurturing and supportive environment for the child.
- Skilled in behavior management, with the ability to stay calm and focused under pressure while caring for the emotional needs of the child.
- Passionate about fostering inclusive environments where all students can thrive.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
