Job Description:
We are looking for a compassionate and skilled SEN Specialist Assistant to join our dedicated team. The successful candidate will provide tailored support to students with a range of special educational needs, ensuring they have access to the curriculum and are fully included in school life. This flexible role will involve working across various schools in Cornwall, offering an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on students' educational journeys.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide targeted support to students with special educational needs, both within the classroom and in other school settings.
Assist in developing and implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to the unique needs of each student.
Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and other education professionals to create an inclusive learning environment.
Monitor and document students' progress, providing regular feedback to teachers and parents.
Use strategies to support the social, emotional, and academic development of students.
Adapt learning materials and resources to accommodate different learning styles and needs.
Foster a safe and supportive environment that encourages student independence and confidence.
Requirements:
Experience working with children with special educational needs in an educational setting.
Relevant qualifications in education or special needs support (e.g., CACHE Level 3, SEN Diploma).
Strong understanding of various special educational needs, including autism, dyslexia, ADHD, and physical disabilities.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting children with special needs.
Ability to work effectively both as part of a team and independently.
Commitment to the safeguarding and welfare of children.
Desirable:
Additional training or certifications related to special educational needs.
Experience with alternative communication methods (e.g., PECS, Makaton) or assistive technologies.
Knowledge of positive behaviour management techniques.
